Julie began her teaching career as a special education teacher after graduating from the University of Connecticut. She has worked in both middle school and elementary school classrooms with students with learning disabilities and emotional difficulties. She received her Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus in Reading from the University of New Orleans. After moving to northern California, Julie worked privately as a reading consultant and a computer teacher before becoming manager of Reading, Rhythm and ROM, a unique store providing computer software, quality children's literature, and technology support to families and teachers.
Upon returning to Connecticut, Julie worked as a technology specialist at LEARN, a regional educational agency, before pursuing her present position as a self-employed educational technology consultant. Currently, Julie does research and provides professional development opportunities for educators in the areas of technology integration, curriculum development and literacy skills and strategies. She is also completing her doctorate at the University of Connecticut in the Department of of Educational Psychology with a focus on Literacy and Technology.
